Research Activities in Secure and Intelligent Computing

KSIS Lab brings together research in secure computer architecture, cybersecurity, cryptography, intelligent systems, and hardware acceleration.

KSIS Lab is a research group in the Computer Engineering Department at Kuwait University, directed by Dr. Abbas A. Fairouz, Dr. Jassim M. Aljuraidan, and Dr. Ameer A. Mohammed. The lab pursues foundational and applied research across secure computing, intelligent systems, and high-performance computing architectures.

Dr. Fairouz leads research in secure computer architecture and chiplet-based systems, including the Chiplet-Knight project on integrity mechanisms for disaggregated processor designs, and investigations into GPU memory protection and hardware-accelerated compression. He is currently an Academic Visitor at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford.

Dr. Aljuraidan focuses on cybersecurity and privacy, with work on information-flow control, mobile and IoT platform security, access control, and automated privacy violation detection in messaging systems. He serves as Principal Investigator on a funded project in this area.

Dr. Mohammed works across cryptography, quantum computing, and machine learning security — investigating adversarial robustness of ensemble models, security threats in federated learning, and quantum-secure protocol design. He is a Visiting Researcher at University College London and serves as Principal Investigator on a funded applied AI project in aquaculture.

Collaborative projects draw on the lab's combined expertise, connecting hardware security, privacy-preserving systems, and intelligent automation across both foundational and domain-applied research directions.
