Applied AI Research for Aquaculture Automation
KSIS Lab faculty are involved in applied AI research for aquaculture automation and disease prediction.
KSIS Lab faculty are participating in a funded research project applying machine learning and AI to aquaculture management. The project aims to develop AI-based systems for monitoring fish health, predicting disease outbreaks, and supporting intelligent automation in aquaculture facilities — addressing challenges that currently rely heavily on manual inspection and domain expertise.
Dr. Ameer A. Mohammed serves as Principal Investigator on this project, with Dr. Abbas A. Fairouz and Dr. Jassim M. Aljuraidan as co-investigators. The collaboration draws on the lab's expertise in machine learning systems, intelligent automation, and applied computing.
The project demonstrates how foundational research in intelligent systems and adversarial robustness can be directed toward practical applications in food security and agricultural technology — domains of direct relevance to Kuwait and the wider Gulf region.
